Presenter's Short Biography

Diana Williams is in her 33rd year in education, 30 years in the classroom as a band director and just completed her 3rd year as the Fine Arts Administrator for Mid-Del Schools. During her tenure teaching bands, Diana traveled across the globe with groups with performances in the Tournament of Roses Parade, Bands of America, Washington D.C. Memorial Day Parade, New York City, Chicago, Missouri Music Ambassadors to Europe, and much more!
In addition to her administrative duties, Diana works with groups across the country to help districts create cohesive music programs, provides professional development for leadership training, mentoring, and clinics ensembles. When she is not adjudicating, or working with programs, she works with groups to provide top notch travel experiences for all types of programs and all sizes of groups.

Ms. Williams is a Phi Beta Mu Band Director of the Year Recipient (Lamba Chapter, 2011), a 4-time Honor Band at Missouri and Oklahoma state conferences, multiple State Runner-Up in Class 5A for both marching band and jazz band in OSSAA and OBA State Championships. She is also featured in Scott Lang's book, "Leader of the Band", Chapter Seven - "The Dynamics of Life - On Maintaining Perspective". Diana currently resides in Choctaw with the love of her life, Ella, her 4 year old black lab, and is a huge fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Session TitleMusical Moments through Travel Experiences
Session Description

We will go through the steps on how to create a wonderful experience for your programs through travel excursions. You do not need to spend thousands of dollars to create musical memories for your students! We will discuss several options, ideas, along with tried and true experiences that will benefit your students and your program.
The topics will include (but not limited to):
- What experience would you like for your students?
- What are the barriers? Cost, age group, Dates, etc.
- How do I find a company to help me? Or Do I Need One?
- Combining other school programs for enrichment
- Fundraising and other revenue sources
- Large stage events for your programs: Rose Parade, Macy's Parade, Essential Ellington, Carnegie Hall Concerts,National Choir Festival, Music For All, etc.
