| Presenter's Short Biography | Joshua Hawkins Nannestad is a proud music teacher. Currently an Associate Professor of Music Education at Morningside University, he teaches methods, literature, and music history, conducts two choirs, and supervises student teachers. Previous appointments include a similar position at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, K-2 classroom music and high school choral activities in Massachusetts, and music ministry in Lutheran, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Episcopal congregations. “Dr J”, as he is known to his students and his classical radio audience, has won faculty awards for teaching and scholarship and has been published in the Choral Journal. He has given presentations for the DePaul Humanities Center, the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the Gordon College Summer Workshops, various school districts and chapters of ACDA and NAfME. Josh’s degrees are from Boston University, Gordon College, and Saint Olaf College. Formative musical experiences include the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the Saint Olaf Choir, the Del Aires of Del City High School, and his mom’s church choirs. He is the proud father of Miriam and Moses and the lucky husband of Joanna. |

| Session Description | Public Domain choral scores: helpful for balancing concert programs, easy on the budget, prone to typos, frustrating to sift through. This session will offer some guidance to avoiding the pitfalls of the public domain repertoire as we read and listen to some useful scores. Come prepared to add your tried and true titles to the collaborative database, as we strive for a variety of voicings and historical styles. |
