| Session Title | Building Confident Piccolo Players from Your Flute Section |
| Session Description | Attendees will gain practical strategies to effectively prepare flute students for a successful transition to piccolo. The session focuses on assessing student readiness by evaluating embouchure flexibility, musical skills, and temperament to identify those best suited for piccolo performance. Key topics include addressing common challenges such as tone quality, pitch accuracy, dynamic control, ensemble blending, and switching back and forth between piccolo and flute. Educators will explore intentional pedagogical approaches to build student confidence and mastery. The clinic includes demonstration exercises, rehearsal techniques, and interactive discussions tailored for middle and high school ensembles. Participants will leave equipped with tools to help their students excel on piccolo and enhance their ensemble’s overall sound. |
