| Presenter's Short Biography | Dr. Susan Miranda is a Fox Products Artist and performs with chamber music ensembles Larkspur Reed Trio and Dúo León. Her interest in education and outreach spans all ages. This is represented in her many educational outreach projects with her chamber music ensembles. Dr. Miranda’s performing career focuses on the development and commission of new music. She has premiered forty works for the oboe over the last decade. Recent premieres include Across by Theresa Martin at the 2022 International Double Reed Society Conference (IDRS); works by Jonathan Posthuma and Gary Powell Nash at the 2023 IDRS in Salaya, Thailand; music by Snow Kim and Posthuma at the 2024 IDRS with Reed5 and Larkspur Reed Trio, and a trio by Nancy Williams at the International Clarinet Association Conference in Dublin, Ireland. |

| Session Description | This presentation will share teachings from Dr. Miranda's "Beginner Oboist" series paired with videos that directors may share directly with their students. Dr. Miranda will discuss the basics of instrument selection for a band program as well as aspects such as breathing, embouchure, and tone. |
