Presenter's Short Biography	Chapman Shields is a theatrical director, designer, and educator from Oklahoma. Recent directing credits include Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, and Kannon Gets the Wiggles for the Freeland Arts Center; Director for Ordinary Days at Canterbury Theatre; Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Snow White: The Musical, and A Christmas Carol for Bristow Theatre; Robin Hood for Cushing Theatre; Director for The Door and Assistant Director for The Theory of Relativity and Charlotte's Web at Oklahoma State. Recent design credits include Scenic Design for Beauty and the Beast, Elf: The Musical and Lighting Design for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Bristow Theatre; A Christmas Carol at Summit City MT; and The Play That Goes Wrong and Hillary in Clinton at Studio Theatre. Lighting Design for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Arsenic and Old Lace at Town and Gown Theatre, Lighting design for Stop Kiss at Oklahoma State University. Chapman also serves in several positions of theatrical leadership around the state of Oklahoma and beyond. He served as the founding president of Oneiric Theatre Company, guest artistic director for Cushing Theatre, and is currently a board director of the Freeland Arts Council, and founding member of Divergence Theatre Company. Chapman also serves on the Oklahoma Arts Council grants committee and Guest artist for Bartlesville theatre. Chapman works for Bristow Schools as Director of Fine Arts and head of choral music.

Session Title	Making the Musical: Choir programs produce…
Session Description	Often times in Oklahoma Schools choir directors find themselves involved in or leading their schools musical theatre show each year. While they have a solid background to produce the music portion of these projects, they lack basic theatre production tips and tricks that take a show from “pretty good for Oklahoma” to “just like the pros do it”! This session aims to help choir (and even instrumental) teachers find the best possible success in producing. From pre-planning and selection, auditions and rehearsals, and tech and show week, this session will leave you feeling prepared and ready to produce the next big musical.
