Presenter's Short Biography

Brittni Bilyeu began teaching in 2014 and is currently the middle/high school choral director at Blanchard. She earned her Bachelors in Music Education from OBU in 2014, National Kodály certification in 2018, & Masters in Music Education from OU in 2019. She serves as President-Elect for OKE, Co-President of ECOCDA, and Southwest Representative for OkCDA. Brittni has served as the MIOSM® Chair for OkMEA, Social Director and Treasurer for OKE, & Region M Co-Chair for CTSWS. She has worked with students in the Canterbury Youth Choir Summer Camp, OYSing!, and Shawnee Honor Choir. She lives in Norman with her dachshund, Hugo, & enjoys reading, cheering on the Sooner football team, and attending musicals at the Civic Center in her free time.

Session TitleFrom Notes to Bonds: Building a Supportive Choral Classroom Culture
Session Description

In this session, we'll explore activities to introduce music literacy to older beginners through sight-reading and singing games/activities in a choral ensemble setting. Participants will learn more about implementing a growth mindset and community-building activities to enhance musical skills in grades 6-12 beginners.
