| Presenter's Short Biography | Chris Turner, baritone, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Performance with a minor in Vocal Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. Shortly after completing his DMA, he did additional post-doctoral study in Vocal Pedagogy at the Eastman School of Music with Robert McIver and Kathryn Cowdrick. Dr. Turner has lectured and presented research on various voice and literature topics at the national, regional, and state level in over twenty educational and research conferences. Examples of the topics and areas he has researched and lectured upon include “The Aging Voice”, “The Use and Application of Technology in the Teaching of Voice”, “Vocal Health for the Music Educator,” “Preparing Your Senior for College Auditions”, “The Efficacy of Selected Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract Exercises on the Duration of the Exhalation Phase in the Breath Cycle of the Young Singer”, “Performing the Songs of Arnold Bax”, and “The Performance and Programming of the German Lied.” Turner has taught on the voice faculties of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Southeastern Louisiana University, and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he currently teaches applied voice, diction, and literature. In addition, in the summer he serves as a member of the voice faculty at Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy for their summer study abroad program. Turner has a wide array of performance experience on both the opera and concert stage and has lectured and presented original research on various voice and literature topics at conferences on the international, national, regional, and state level. |

| Session Title | The Use of Kinesthetic Movement in the Choral Rehearsal |
| Session Description | In this lecture presentation, we will discuss the efficacy of kinesthetic movement, various ways in which it may be applied in rehearsal, and examples that can be immediately used by the choral director to improve the sound of their ensemble. |
