Session Proposals

Jackson Anderson is a dedicated educator and musician, known for his commitment to excellence in music education. He is an accomplished composer, conductor, clinician, and performer. He is also in high demand as a collaborative pianist throughout Oklahoma.

Mr. Anderson has spent the last 8 years as a Band Director, serving as Director of Bands at Garber Public Schools and Associate Director of Bands at Shawnee Public Schools, where his Bands consistently received Superior Ratings in Concert, Sight Reading, and Marching. He previously served as the Worship Arts Director for Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid, OK where he oversaw the entire music department, including directing the choir and orchestra.

Mr. Anderson is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor's in Music Education and currently attends the University of Oklahoma pursuing his Master's in Music Education. In addition to his studies, he serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and studies conducting with Dr. Caroline Hand and composition with Dr. Maria Kaoutzani. Professional affiliations include OkMEA, OBA, as well as Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota, ASCAP, and the International Percy Grainger Society.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Jackson enjoys traveling and taking pictures of his food. He can also be found performing with the OKC Winds and behind the piano with his band JnJ Dueling Pianos. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Katherine (Katie), who is living out her passion as a Middle School Choir Director.

Taylor Steier; Director of Bands - Tuttle High School

Taylor Steier is the Director of Bands for Tuttle Public Schools and is currently in his 9th year of teaching. Mr. Steier’s responsibilities include: overseeing all facets of the Tuttle Band Program, directing the Tuttle High School Tiger Pride Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and teach beginning Flute and Trumpet classes. Mr. Steier recently taught for 3 years at Enid High School and 2 years for Guthrie Public Schools.

Mr. Steier grew up in Enid, Oklahoma graduating from Chisholm High School in 2011. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he was a three year Drum Major for the “Pride” of the Great Southwest marching band and a student conductor for the SWOSU Symphonic Band. Mr. Steier has performed with the SWOSU Wind Symphony, SWOSU Symphonic Band, SWOSU Symphony Orchestra and the OKC Winds. He has also led the The “Mighty” Tau Phi Singers of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia to be selected as an ensemble to perform with The King’s Singers in June of 2017 at Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

Mr. Steier received his Bachelor's Degrees in Instrumental and General Music Education and Horn Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2015 and received his Masters Degree in Music Education – Conducting Emphasis from the University of Oklahoma in 2022. Mr. Steier holds professional affiliation with the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Southwestern Oklahoma Band Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. He currently resides in Oklahoma City, Ok where he lives with his wife Katie, our dog Molly and cat Penny.

Oftentimes, the "Warm-Up" time in the rehearsal is often the most underutilized portion of the average Band rehearsal. What we suggest is changing the mindset from a warm-up to utilizing a Daily Drill. The Daily Drill is the most important part of your teaching, setting up your students for success throughout the year! Taylor Steier and Jackson Anderson will take you through their philosophy of Daily Drills as well as demonstrate different exercises that you could use in your classrooms!
