Melody Brooks is the General Music Teacher at Belvidere Elementary School in Grandview, Missouri. She holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music Education from Reinhardt University. Passionate about elementary music education, Melody is dedicated to creating engaging and meaningful musical experiences for young learners. Her interests include children's choir development, music literacy, and fostering a lifelong love of music through creative and student-centered instruction.

Session Description

Puppets can be powerful tools for engaging young musicians. This session shares practical ways to use puppets to teach improvisational singing, instrument technique, warm-ups, games, and musical storytelling with books. Participants will also explore how puppets can support social-emotional learning by helping students build confidence, express ideas, and feel comfortable participating. Attendees will leave with simple, ready-to-use strategies for bringing puppets into everyday elementary music lessons.
