Presenter's Short Biography

Tara Light is enjoying life singing, dancing, and moving at Victory Family School in Norman, OK where she is in her 19th year of teaching. Tara has a Masters of Music Education and Kodály certification from the University of Oklahoma and is a past Oklahoma Music Educators Association Elementary Vice President. She loves singing with the worship team and choir at Victory Family Church and with her family’s a cappella group, Wild and Sweet.
When she isn’t making music with anyone and everyone, Tara loves spending time outdoors swimming, biking, running, kayaking, and hiking! She believes in setting big goals and working to accomplish them and hopes she inspires others to do the same. She and her husband, Steffan, love to go on trips, play pickleball, and cheer on the OKC Thunder! @sunshine_and_snowdaze

Session TitleI Want it That Way: Boy Bands in Music Class
Session Description

"Tell me why" SHOULDN'T we throw it back to when pop music was "Larger than Life" and Boy Bands reigned supreme? Every story, movement, and instrumental activity will be directly tied to the boy band era and I promise you'll hear some of your favorite songs in a new way. Let's weave in some music history and take away ideas for student composition, improvisation, and ensemble work that you can implement in your classes before the school year ends...because before you know it, "It's Gonna Be MAY!"
