Position Overview:
Sequoyah Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Choir Director to join our thriving music program. This position is part of a collaborative team of directors that supports and feeds into the Edmond North vertical alignment. The ideal candidate will be committed to vocal excellence, student growth, and strong collaboration across grade levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct and manage middle school choir ensembles, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment
Assist with middle school choral activities, including concert choirs, chamber ensembles, and vocal groups
Teach vocal technique, music literacy, and sight-reading skills in classroom and ensemble settings
Collaborate with fellow directors to ensure program continuity and vertical alignment
Participate in rehearsals, performances, competitions, and related events outside of regular school hours
Support recruitment and retention efforts for the choral program
Organize concerts, performances, and community engagement opportunities

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (required)
Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification in Oklahoma)
Experience working with middle school and/or high school choir programs preferred
Strong knowledge of vocal pedagogy and choral direction
Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Preferred Attributes:

Experience accompanying or working with accompanists
Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented, vertically aligned program
Commitment to building a positive and inclusive music culture
