Teaching Highlights (ensemble accomplishments, personal accomplishments, etc.) | Anderson HS Choir invoiced to sing at Missouri League of Women Votes in 1953; Muskogee HS band received superior ratings in performance and a I+++++ in sight reading in 1966; Northeastern State Jazz Band won 1st Place in Corinthian Broadcasting Contest for best musical group on Oklahoma campuses in 1966; the NSU Jazz Band performed 5 times at OMEA; started the Green Country Jazz Festival in 1968, featuring the bands of "Doc" Severinsen, Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, and more; started the NSU Music Hall of Fame; judged bands contests in Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Kansas and Iowa; sponsored both Kappa Kappa Tsi and Tau Beta Sigma band fraternities with both receiving "Top Chapter in the Nation" in 1979-1980; Muskogee HS Band invited to the Cotton Bowl Parade in 1966; Terry Segress and I started the Oklahoma All-State Jazz Band Contest; played in the jazz bands of Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Guy Lombardo, Forrest Wasson, and others over a 25 year period as well as the Severinsen Combo; recorded a CD with Wasson band; composed a march "The Postmaster General March" for the US Sailors Destroyer Escort Services, recorded by the US Naval Academy Band and played at the Destroyer Escort Convention in 1993-1996; Director of the Muskogee Community Band and the Muskogee Shriners Band |
