Ardmore City Schools is seeking a full-time Director of Orchestras to lead its 6th–12th grade orchestra program. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance or Music Education and possess a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in Instrumental/General Music Pre-K–12. Candidates should have a strong background in string performance and instruction, along with prior teaching experience in school settings or private studios. Responsibilities include developing and delivering lesson plans for string classes (potentially including guitar), coordinating at least two major performances each year, preparing students for OSSAA music contests, and managing administrative tasks such as instrument inventory, equipment maintenance, and student records. The role also involves active participation in recruitment and retention efforts. Strong organizational skills, effective communication with students, parents, and staff, and the ability to maintain emotional control in high-pressure situations are essential.
