Greetings Oklahoma NATS Members,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying your spring semester! I am very excited about our OK NATS student auditions coming up on Saturday, April 6. Please remember the notice I sent out earlier indicating that our venue has changed. We will no longer be at SNU, but instead be holding the auditions on the campus of Mid-America Christian University (3500 SW 119th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73170). Our site coordinator, Christian Morren, and the faculty of Mid-America Christian University are working incredibly hard to make it a wonderful event for us! I hope you will all plan to attend the student auditions and our annual district business meeting/luncheon. In lieu of a Friday night concert, we have decided to sponsor a separate event earlier in the year. On Friday, March 8, from 3:00-5:00 PM Dr. Clifton Ware will be on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University to present a masterclass/workshop. This is a NATS sponsored event, so I do hope you will make plans to attend and bring your students. (If you have a student you would like to be considered as a participant on the masterclass, please send their name, year in school, and possible repertoire to me by February 22.)
This email and the attached documentation should give you all of the information that you need to register yourself and your students for our upcoming auditions. Teachers will need to submit all student, accompanist and repertoire information through our audition scheduling website (www.natsauditions.com). All fees (including teacher registration, business lunch reservations, and student entry fees) along with teacher registration form will need to be mailed to Mark McQuade (see attached "Conference-Luncheon Teacher Registration" document for mailing address).
I also must remind everyone that if your national dues have not been paid up-to-date at the time of the conference, your students will not be allow to participate. So, please make sure and renew your national dues, if you have not yet done so.
As you begin to register, here are Five things to remember: 1) As soon as you log into the audition scheduling website you MUST UPDATE your "Profile" to include all of the schools/universities at which you teach. You can do this by going to to "Member Tools" and then clicking on "My Profile" and entering the schools in the three boxes at the right hand side of the screen. (This information is vital so you don't judge students from your own institution(s). Be sure to "save" the changes by clicking SAVE at the bottom of the page.) 2) If you registered students last year through the website and your email address hasn't changed, your log in information should be the same and you can skip steps 2, 3 & 4 on the Basic Instructions document, but you still need to update the school information in your profile! 3) Each pianist is allowed to play for 10 students maximum. 4) Each teacher is allowed 8 students within Div. III-XI and unlimited entries in the Adult and Youth divisions. (All of the audition rules are attached.) 5) Registration will be open from February 25-March 14 (registration will close at 10:00pm on March 14).
**Important Note** - If you are a teacher who is planning to attend but not entering students you do not need to log into the auditions scheduling website. All you need to do is mail your teacher registration/lunch form and payment to Mark McQuade and then e-mail the auditions chair, April Golliver, at april.golliver@okstate.edu and let her know if you are willing to serve as a judge, even though you are not entering students.

We would like to present our usual winners recital Saturday afternoon. So, please submit the names of your students who might wish to sing. They should have finished in the top two of their respective divisions at last year’s Oklahoma district auditions or in the top three at November’s TEXOMA auditions. Please give the student’s name as it should appear in the program and indicate which auditions, which category, and which place they won. Also, indicate the title, composer, and larger work (if applicable) which they will perform, along with the name of their accompanist. I can’t guarantee everyone will get to sing, but we will try to accommodate as many as possible.
Our annual business meeting will take place at 1:00pm in the Evangel Room, just off the of the Cafeteria at Mid-America U. (There will be multiple food options, including salad bar.) I hope you will all be able to join us for this important time as we discuss the business of our district. If you have business items that you would like to be included on the agenda, please send them to me by March 29.
Lastly, I would like to remind you all of the copyright policy that is in place for all NATS sponsored events. (Remember, your accompanists MUST play from original scores.) On your teacher registration form, you will be required to sign a statement of compliance. And in case you have any students who intend to use sheet music printed from an online source, please remind them to print a copy of the page that shows the download link in order to provide it as proof if requested.
Let's make this our biggest and best Oklahoma NATS Auditions yet! I look forward to seeing you all in Oklahoma City!
Best,
Mark McQuade
